Thomas Tuchel is ready to make big defensive changes to his Chelsea squad with the club being linked with a summer move for Brighton’s Adam Webster.

The Blues boss is facing the prospect of having to overhaul his back-line in the next transfer window with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta’s contracts all set to expire at the end of the season.

It comes as Chelsea have made history after being crowned world champions following their 2-1 win over Brazilian side Palmeiras.

Abramovich eyes takeover

Roman Abramovich is reportedly eyeing taking over a second club.

It’s a strategy that has been successfully employed by the likes of Manchester City’s City Football Group, which also owns MLS side New York City FC and Melbourne City.

And now, Russian billionaire Abramovich is reportedly ready to follow suit and is trying to purchase Brazilian side Vasco de Gama.

It is claimed the Chesea owner is hoping to beat Premier League rivals Liverpool to the punch.

Kai Havertz’s last-ditch extra-time penalty sealed Chelsea’s maiden Club World Cup triumph in a gritty 2-1 win over Brazilians Palmeiras.

Romelu Lukaku’s 10th goal of the season had Chelsea hoping of a quick conclusion in their bid to complete the clean sweep of major global club trophies.

But Palmeiras had other ideas and Raphael Veiga’s penalty sent the clash into extra-time at Abu Dhabi’s Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium.

The Blues boss could lose three key components of his defence this summer with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.

And Webster’s fine performances for Brighton this term are said to have caught the attention of the Blues’ staff as they plan how to replace their three contract rebels should they fail to agree to new deals at Stamford Bridge.
