In 2013, newlyweds and cryptocurrency enthusiasts Austin and Beccy Craig set themselves a challenge: could they travel the world using only bitcoin?
From their home in Provo, Utah, where they had been buying everything with bitcoin, they set off for New York, then to Stockholm and Berlin, with its high density of shops accepting the digital currency. From here they travelled to Singapore, a city ranked by platform Coincub in 2021 as the top cryptocurrency economy, thanks to a high crypto-owning population.
The Craigs’ journey, which they documented on their YouTube channel, might have seemed baffling nine years ago but many people have since done a similar thing — and the trend is set to get more widespread.
