Jake Paul’s update on KSI vs Alex Wassabi

KSI will return to the ring on August 27 – almost three years since his rematch victory over Logan Paul.

The YouTube star was at the forefront of the social media boxing revolution which has spawned dozens of shows and several professional fighters. KSI – real name Olajide “JJ” Olatunji – and Paul joined the paid ranks for their Los Angeles sequel which KSI won on points.

They had previously fought under white-collar rules in Manchester with the bout scored a draw. Logan’s brother Jake fought on that undercard and has since gone on to establish a record of 5-0 as a professional fighter.

KSI did not name an opponent when he tweeted his fight date along with a promotional video and the words “I’m back” but he has been in talks with Alex Wassabi who is now represented by Jake and his Most Valuable Promotions company. Such a fight would see KSI attempt to avenge his brother Deji’s defeat at the hands of the American earlier this year.

“Alright as a warm up fight to get rid of the cobwebs I will fight Alex Wassabi,” he said during a recent episode of SideCast. “Go in and f*** him up, I’ll redeem Deji and say ‘this is how you do it’. “I’ll lose the weight. If I lose to Alex Wassabi I’ll never do boxing or music again in my life. I would just stop. I wouldn’t even make people pay for it, I’ll make it for free. I’ll show everyone a sick event and make it free.”

The younger Paul brother, who will himself fight two weeks before KSI, recently confirmed to Mirror Fighting that he was looking to help Wassabi secure a fight with his rival. “We’re shooting for that KSI fight in August,” he said. “I think it could very easily happen, it’s just from KSI’s side him actually getting in the ring, he keeps on talking about it and he’s been talking about it for what seems like years now.

“So who knows if he actually is going to put down the microphone and pick up the boxing gloves. Because there’s a lot at risk for him and I don’t think his ego can take a loss, so I don’t know if the money is going to be worth him losing in the ring.”
